Having holidayed Perth myself I would recommend a visit there. However, you may not want to take my word for it! Travel Guide Perth has information about the city so that you can find out what there is to do there before you visit. There is not only information about King’s Park and the Botanical Gardens both of which I loved, but about the museums which I didn’t visit. There is information about the lovely beaches and the information about the shopping area. Usefully there are also links to hotels and restaurants so you can even book your accomodation before you go.
